High fibre probiotic antacid pellet

Acid Ease was originally developed for the vet market in 1999/2000 and was trialled at racing yards in Lambourn and at The Royal Veterinary College.

The product was shown to reduce gastric ulcers by 50% and the severity of remaining lesions by a third over a period of a month.

Acid Ease is mainly used prophylacticly to prevent ulcers recurring, as well as resolving the problem.

Usage: Acid Ease is fed at 400g per day for the initial month, usually split between two feeds. Within the 400g of pellet is carried heavy calcium carbonate and heavy magnesium carbonate as antacids, the same as “Rennie®” (approx = to 70 tabs!). Also included is Kaolin as a coating agent to help soothe any inflammation. Protexin probiotic and Protexin PreplexTM prebiotic are also included at high doses to counteract over-acidity in the gut, which causes disruption to the microflora.

Suitable for: Horses that are stabled, fed a predominantly hard feed diet and also exercised and stressed. These horses are likely to suffer from some form of gastritis, if not full-blown ulcers, similar to our own understanding of indigestion or heartburn.

Results: People see results in their horses within 10 days, sometimes sooner. After the initial month the daily dose can be reduced to comfort. Cut the serving by half (200g) for a week than lower again until symptoms return, then raise it back to comfort; this way 10kgs will last for up to three months with one horse.

Specifics: Gastric ulcers/Gastritis

Symptoms of these conditions include: crib-biting and wind-sucking, poor coat and condition that develops quickly and is out of character, an irritable disposition, particularly when girthing-up, lack of enthusiasm when asked to work and loose stools. Using Acid Ease to prevent the ulcers occurring prevents these symptoms appearing.

"Equine Premium Acid Ease has improved the condition of all the horses in the yard, it’s the perfect product for keeping weight on the horses prone to ulcers during a busy eventing season, its so easy to use and even the fussiest eaters like it"
