Questions

Why does a horse benefit from probiotics following a course of antibiotics?

Antibiotics are very good at combating infection caused by bacteria which have been allowed into the body following disease or injury. They don’t necessarily distinguish between good bacteria and bad bacteria and can therefore have a detrimental effect on the gut microflora. Feeding a probiotic during and for a month after a treatment will help to restore and strengthen the gut helping the horse recover more quickly.
