Questions

Can horses become dependant on a probiotic if fed long term?

No. The gut microbial population is an inoculation from the outside world. Foals are born with a sterile gut and rely on their dam, in combination with the environment to acquire their gut microflora, there is no endogenous production. The gut population is constantly changing as a response to the horse’s environment and feeding therefore feeding a probiotic continuously will achieve greater stability and better results.
