Questions
How do probiotics help horses that have been wormed?
Anthelmintic products are a very necessary part of equine management and should be used on a regular maintained basis to keep horses worm free. The effect of the wormer has some disruptive effect on the microflora population, by definition. Therefore the use of a strong short course of probiotic following a wormer helps to restore the microflora balance and helps avoid any unnecessary sporadic colicing often seen following worming.
